Option 1: Automated Solution (Windows)

Our PowerShell script will automatically:

✓ Generate a new unique Machine ID
✓ Create a backup of your existing configuration
✓ Update the configuration file
✓ Handle all necessary file operations

How to Run:

Download the script above
Right-click "fix-cursor.ps1"
Select "Run with PowerShell"
Click "Yes" when prompted for administrator privileges
Wait for the script to complete
Restart Cursor

Right-click to paste the script
Press Enter to run
After script completes:
- Close PowerShell
- Start Cursor
- Log in with your temporary email account
- If you still see "Too many free trials" message, close Cursor completely (including from system tray) and try again

macOS: Drag to Trash and empty
Linux: Use your distribution's package manager

C:\Users\[YourUsername]\AppData\Local\Programs\cursor

macOS:

~/Library/Application Support/Cursor

Install Cursor
Create a new account using a temporary email from temp-mail.org
Login with the temporary email account
When you see the "Too many free trials" message, close Cursor completely

Navigate to the configuration file:
- Windows: %APPDATA%\Cursor\User\globalStorage\storage.json
- macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Cursor/User/globalStorage/storage.json
- Linux: ~/.config/Cursor/User/globalStorage/storage.json
Create a backup of storage.json
Edit storage.json and update the fields with your new key (see JSON above)
Save the file and restart Cursor
